Mass. man melting snow with blowtorch ignites home

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Did you do  anything “Intresting” during this holiday weekend?    from the AP wire.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — Fire officials in New Bedford, Mass., say a man using a blowtorch to melt ice on his back porch ended up setting his house on fire, causing up to $30,000 in damage.

Fire Capt. Scott Kruger tells The Standard-Times of New Bedford that no on was injured during Monday’s incident at the three-story home.

Kruger says the man was using a torch hooked up to a 20-pound propane cylinder. He got too close to the building’s wood frame and ignited the vinyl siding. The fire quickly spread into the building’s second- and third-floor apartments.

It took 25 firefighters to subdue the blaze that damaged bedrooms in the upstairs units, and caused damage to the structure and wiring.

The homeowner will not be charged.

Hey it’s Santa!

Yesterday I saw a list of some of the hardest jobs you can have during the holidays and I saw that Santa wasn’t on it.  Check some of these photos out and tell me if you could stand an entire month of this.  I know not all kids are going to scream but it’s got to be tough on the old ears.  I just hope Santa is jolly and delivers the goods on Christmas.

Cyber Monday

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Yep, you know the Monday immediately following Black Friday (the the ceremonial kick-off of the holiday online shopping season ) is here.

I found a website or two that may help you find deals. I thought the ticker on the right hand column was pretty good in shooting out data about items that were supposed to be discounted today without digging through tons and tons of websites.  Check out “Wallet Pop” http://www.walletpop.com/ when you have a minute.

Another one that I came across was http://www.cybermonday.com/
they have a board showing some online exclusives that may help you out.

I already started my Christmas shopping right after Thanksgiving and I’ve done well so far.  This poor economy has all retailers (small and large) running different kinds of promotions including the free shipping.

I know that if I can avoid it *I WILL AVOID THE MALL*  I’ll make one trip to the mall and that’s going to be to take my son to see Santa.  Maybe the old man will remember  him.

good luck kids.  Hope you find something nice.
